Desert Haven Animal Refuge and RV Park
Daily: $12 includes electricity. Weekly: $50 plus electricity. Monthly: $150 plus electricity.
Longer-term campers who will work at the small animal sanctuary are preferred, but regular and overnight campers are welcome when space is available. Well mannered pets are welcome as guests, but the park is adults-only. The small domestic animal sanctuary, which is operated by The Sierra County Humane Society, cares for cats, dogs, rabbits, doves, chickens, peacocks, guinea pigs and the like. There is also a pet cemetery adjacent to the sanctuary. Work campers help at the facility for an average of 30 hours a week per couple/20 hours per single and receive a free site with an allowance on electric & wi-fi. Telephone service must be arranged by the tenant. Spaces can accommodate rigs 40 ft and over. Our shade trees are young, but provide greenery and some relief in summer. The campground, located in a country setting, has a beautiful view of the Caballo Mountains and the Rio Grande Corridor.
