Sierra County Fair - chickens, pigs, steer, calves, vegetables, flowers, art
Annually: the weekend after Southern NM State Fair
Cost: free

Arts, crafts, livestock, food vendors, community groups, and fun! Fair exhibits are open to the general public Thursday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. Dance on Saturday night after the sale.

2021 County Fair Schedule

Monday September 20

Regular livestock entries close (including the horse show) – enter online at sierracountyfair.fairentry.com

Saturday, September 25

Late livestock entries close (late fee: $25 per entry)

Monday & Tuesday October 4-5

Buildings open for booth construction

Tuesday October 5

1pm: Fair queen contest @ Event Center
4pm: Fair queen horsemanship competition

Wednesday October 6

8am-3pm: Receive indoor department exhibits (home science, home arts, crafts, agricultural produce, decorative arts, agricultural mechanics, 4-H projects)
10am: All livestock must be on grounds
11am: Mandatory livestock exhibitors meeting followed by weigh‐in & classification of market animals: lambs, steers, swine & meat goats – lunch provided by Johnny B’s
4pm: Horse show @ City Arena
4pm: Exhibit building closed – judging of exhibits & booths
5pm: Rabbit/cavy shows @ Old Sale Ring (starts with cavy show)

Thursday October 7

8am-7pm: Exhibit buildings open to the public
8am: County‐bred barrow, market swine, breeding gilt, showmanship, peewee pig show @ Old Sale Ring
11am: County-bred goat, market meat goat show, showmanship, breeding and pygmy goat, showmanship, peewee goat show @ Pavilion Show Ring
2pm: Rabbit showmanship contest @ Old Sale Ring
2pm: Kids games hosted by Arrey Rustlers 4-H @ Pavilion Sale Ring
3pm: Poultry show, beginning with open show (8 & under & cloverbud), with all others following
3-7pm: Beer garden @ Event Center – provided by TorC Brewery

Friday October 8

8am-7pm: Exhibit buildings open
8am: County-bred lamb, market lamb & breeding sheep show, showmanship, peewee lamb show @ Pavilion Show Ring
11am: Kids games hosted by Engle Ropers 4-H – kids will build their own stick horses for a stick horse race @ Pavilion Sale Ring
3pm: Kids games hosted by Desert Flowers 4-H – corn hole fishing @ Pavilion Sale Ring
3-7pm: Beer garden provided by TorC Brewery
5pm: Breeding beef, county-bred steer & market steer show, showmanship @ Pavilion Show Ring
8pm: Add to / Pull from Packer List
8pm: Fair queen cance, open to everyone immediately following the steer show @ Event Center

Saturday October 9

8am-6pm: Exhibit buildings open
9am: Senior round robin showmanship @ Pavilion Show Ring
10am: Set up for junior livestock sale (mandatory for all sale exhibitors)
11am: Team sorting @ City Arena
1pm: Cow patty bingo @ Old Sale Ring
1pm: Ranch rodeo @ City Arena
5pm: Buyers dinner @ Event Center – beer garden provided by TorC Brewery
6pm: Crowning of fair court @ Pavilion Show Ring
6:30pm: Junior livestock sale
9pm: Goat roping hosted by Engle Ropers 4-H @ Old Sale Ring

Sunday October 10

9am-noon: Exhibit buildings open
10am: Dog show / pet show @ Pavilion Show Ring
12pm: Exhibits released, booth breakdown & removal
