Sierra County Fair - chickens, pigs, steer, calves, vegetables, flowers, art
Annually: the weekend after Southern NM State Fair
Cost: free

Arts, crafts, livestock, food vendors, community groups, and fun! Fair exhibits are open to the general public Thursday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. Dance on Saturday night after the sale.

2019 County Fair Schedule

Sunday September 15

Livestock Entries Close, including Horse Show. Fee & forms must be completed. Late entries accepted through Sept 25 with late entry fee of $25 per entry. NO LIVESTOCK ENTRIES AFTER 9/25.

Tuesday October 1

5pm: Fair Queen Contest, Event Center

Wednesday October 2

8am-3pm: Receive Department Exhibits (Home Science, Home Arts, Crafts, Produce, Arts, Decorative Arts, Mechanics & 4H Projects)
1pm: Livestock Exhibitors Meeting followed by Weigh‐in & Classification of Market Animals: Lambs, Steers, Swine & Meat Goats
4pm: Horse Show @ City Arena
4pm: Exhibit building closed – judging of exhibit & booths
5pm: Rabbit/Cavy Shows, Old Sale Ring (starts with Cavy Show)

Thursday October 3

8am-7pm: Exhibit Buildings Open
8am-12pm: Flower Show Entries Accepted
8am: County‐Bred Barrow, Market Swine, Breeding Gilt, Showmanship – Old Sale Ring
11am: County Bred Goat, Market Meat Goat Show, Showmanship, Breeding and Pygmy Goat @ Pavilion Show Ring
2pm: Kids Games hosted by Arrey Rustlers 4-H @ Pavilion Sale Ring
3pm: Poultry Show
‐Open Show first (8 & Under & Cloverbud)
‐All others to follow
3pm: Beer Garden opens at the Event Center – provided by TorC Brewery, with live music and dance (music by Grace Askew)

Friday October 4

8am-7pm: Exhibit Buildings Open
8am: County Bred Lamb, Market Lamb & Breeding Sheep Show, Showmanship @ Pavilion Show Ring
2pm: Rabbit Showmanship Contest, Old Sale Ring
3pm: Kids Games hosted by Thundering Hooves 4-H @ Pavilion Sale Ring
3-7pm: Beer Garden opens – provided by TorC Brewery
5pm: Breeding Beef, County Bred Steer & Market Steer Show, Showmanship @ Pavilion Show Ring
8pm: Add to / Pull from Packer List
8pm: Fair Queen Dance, Event Center open to everyone, $5 per person (immediately following the steer show)

Saturday October 5

8am-6pm: Exhibit Buildings Open
9am: PeeWee Pig Show – Old Sale Ring – hosted by Winston Leggins 4-H; followed by Chicken Scramble hosted by Caballo Wranglers 4-H
10am: Senior Round Robin Showmanship @ Pavilion Show Ring
11am: Set Up for Jr. Livestock Sale (MANDATORY FOR ALL SALE EXHIBITORS)
11am: Team Sorting @ City Arena
1pm: Cow Patty Bingo @ Old Sale Ring
1pm: Ranch Rodeo @ City Arena
5pm: Buyers Dinner @ Albert Lyon Event Center – beer garden provided by TorC Brewery
6pm: Crowning of Fair Court @ Pavilion
9pm: FFA Alumni Dance, Event Center – $5 per person supports FFA Nationals trip

Sunday October 6

9am-noon: Exhibit Buildings Open
9am: Dog Show — Pet Show @ Pavilion Ring
12pm: RELEASE ALL EXHIBITS (Indoor exhibits released between 12‐3)
12pm: Booth breakdown/removal
